What an Amazing Year! Part One

Blogging got away from me when we hit springtime and for that I'm sorry. I want to post a ton of pictures of your awesome kids and tell you some of the fun end of the year stuff we did.

In a couple weeks I'll be starting a new year with new kids and just want to take a moment to thank all of you for partnering with me last year. Your kids are ready for fourth grade and I'm super proud of them!!

Part One - Wax Museum

These kids did such a phenomenal job with the Wax Museum. After each of them chose someone who has made an impact on our country, they each used multiple resources (books, websites, research portals, etc) to gather research. Using a handmade organizer, they categorized their facts and kept track of them in their folders.

After all of the facts were gathered, they had to lay them out into a timeline of their important person's life. This allowed them to see if there were gaps in their important person's life that they needed to fill and required them to really understand how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together.

After timelines were created, it was time to draft the biography of their famous person's life in the FIRST person perspective.

Another important part of the process was the peer conference to give each other ideas and suggestions to improve the writing.
They also had to do a self review and revision in order to improve their writing. Their final step was to meet with me to go over the flow and see if we needed to make any more adjustments to the piece of writing.
And of course...the boards. The kids had been working on so many different things throughout this research process. They had created online time lines, they had composed Six Word Memoirs, they had created Thinglinks in the media center with Mrs. Schartner, and had collected so many pictures.

 We rehearsed...

...and rehearsed (dress rehearsal with other third grade classes)...

...until it was time to PERFORM!!
Thank you to all who could attend. I think we can all agree the kids outdid themselves!!
