The zillions of pictures will make this a long post...but they tell the story...so grab a snack and enjoy!
Language Arts - we do so many different things during language arts time, but one of my favorite activities is reading a piece of literature from the program titled, "Jacob's Ladder" which was written specifically for academically advanced students. The ladder questions are tiered to help students strengthen their comprehension through thinking critically about the text. These pictures show the kids discussing and defending their thoughts after working independently to answer each question. The brainstorm ladders allow students to add to their initial thoughts and improve their comprehension from listening to their peers. I LOVE this program!
MakerSpace - I try to include MakerSpace once a week, but during shortened weeks I can't make time for it, so they are getting to do it about twice a month. AND THEY LOVE IT...they have many different choices for how they spend the time...they can make Cardboard Creations, create origami, work with Legos or Knex to build and design, code on the computer, or work with circuitry. Just this past week I added a written reflection to the MakerSpace time. They completed their reflections on Google Classroom...ask your child to show it to you.
One of our Soaring with Pride rewards was a picnic outside for lunch...I just love spending time with your kids!
Pumpkin Math was a ton of fun! Thanks to all of the parents who came in to volunteer and/or who donated pumpkins for our math exploration!
And our Fall Festival was awesome!! Thanks so much to Mrs. Osher who organized the entire party! Thanks also to all of the parents who came to help out and to all of the parents' donations that made the party possible!
More MakerSpace...this is the week I introduced coding and circuitry!
Science - right now we are working with our Chemical Tests unit...and the kids LOVE everything and anything hands-on! They are working to discover which household chemicals are in each of the five mystery powder containers.
For Veterans Day I taught the kids all about Six Word Memoirs...sharing powerful messages using only six words. I only have a few pictures of the amazing poems the kids wrote...but they are all on display in the hallway that leads to our classroom. You have such talented kids!
We met with our buddies last week...but I can't share those pictures until I find out if the PreK students have photo permission. Your kids were so wonderful with these littlest of people...it was heart warming to watch them mentor their buddies while helping them make Thanksgiving cards and reading a story to them.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for your kids...they are a JOY to teach.
