Hello, everyone! I want to start with the most important information...
Mrs. Wills' Class Plays
Mrs. Wills' Class Plays
Wednesday, June 8th
UES cafeteria
9:15 am
Please arrive before 9:15 so that we can begin promptly. Sign in at the office and mosey over to the cafeteria. The kids will be presenting three plays (approximately 40-45 minutes). After the plays we will have a cast party with cake and drinks...please join us!
If you are unable to attend, but would like to come to our dress rehearsal...it is planned for Monday, June 6th at 9:15 am...it will be attended by the other third grade classes and Mrs. Green's first grade class (they have invited us to many things this year!)
*************************************************************************************************** We have had a great week...so busy with lots of final productions...the kids are finishing their games...they have done a superb job...they have written two drafts of their directions and are in the process of playing the rough draft games so they can make final revisions. They have had to decide on strategy, they have used their math and science skills to make challenging, fun questions...I just know the final outcome will be fantastic...a reminder...if you'd like to join us the afternoon of June 8th from 1:10-2:20, we will be playing these finished games!
Another production that we are finshing up is, of course, the plays! I have been tough on your kids...I will be honest...but they have totally risen to the high expectations I have set and have learned to project their voices. I asked them today if they knew what would have happened if I had just said, "Oh, what a great job," every time they rehearsed. They told me they knew they wouldn't have improved...and one kid said to me, "I'm glad you were hard on me, Mrs. Wills, my speaking is so much better!" (I could have kissed him...but, of course, I didn't!) ALL PROPS and COSTUMES must be here MONDAY! I told the kids to bring them today, but there are a few that forgot...our plays are at 9:15 am Monday, so there won't be time for anxious, last minute calls home...please help your child remember his/her things!
We are working on persuasive essays...I am so excited for you to see them. Each child picked a topic they feel passionate about...watch out, Moms and Dads...you're the audience for many of their pieces...Why I Should Have a Cell Phone, Why I Need a Puppy...you get the idea! Each student worked to fill out a graphic organizer and then wrote a 1st draft. Then we reviewed the important parts of an essay...indenting paragraphs, parts of paragraphs, introductory and closing paragraphs, etc. THEN, we paired up and got the opinion of a peer, using a peer review sheet. FINALLY...we will write final copies next week IN CURSIVE...ahhhhh! I can hear the moans now.
We have had the priviledge of seeing Mr. Schartner's plays, Mrs. Humerick's plays, and Mrs. Sikora's plays...we will see the other third grade plays next week.
Last...most kids have completed production of their Photostories...today they saved them to the school's hard drive and I have started to download them to the blog...that way, you and all of their friends can enjoy their hard work...scroll further down to see the post under construction!!
I can't believe we're almost done...
