I've never been one for a FEW words....

...however...I have SOOOO many pictures to share, that this post will catch up on all our "goings on" this Spring with very few words...my husband would tell you to "enjoy it while you can!"  ;-)

One quick plug before you read on....

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...We are looking for volunteers to help out with the AG BUS that is coming to our school.  In case you are able to give a 1/2 day or a full day, I wanted you to have the times that OUR class will be in the AG BUS...that would be a perfect day to volunteer for your 1/2 day if you are able.

Our class is going on Tuesday, May 13 in the morning.  We are also going on Tuesday, May 20 in the afternoon.  If either of these times work for you, please email faith.humerick@fcps.org and she will schedule you!  If you have any other times you are available, I know she would appreciate the time.  Thanks for considering...SHE ONLY HAS TWO VOLUNTEERS SO FAR (for two weeks of Ag bus...I'd love for our slots to be full!!!)

I hope you're out enjoying this beautiful weather with your beautiful children...I'm headed to one of three baseball games in an hour...can't wait!!

Sponge Investigation...Measuring Liquid Capacity

Experimenting with Mystery Powders

Our First Experiment...
...we made GOO...and it was the ORANGE POWDER...ask your child what ORANGE was!!
(pictures out of order...experiments above were AFTER the goo...but Blogger makes it too hard to move that many pictures!!)

Buddy Reading in the Great Heron Wetlands

Published Color Poems
-one of my very favorite writing assignments!
Right now we're working on opinion essays...ask your child about whether or not the US should get rid of the penny!

New Science Unit - Rocks, Soil, and Fossils
We created compost bins for the worms coming this week...Thanks, Mrs. Weisgerber for your help!

The Latest Game Craze...DABBLE!
Dabble is like Scrabble, except you play on teams...at the beginnjing of the year, this class couldn't have handled this game...but I'm thrilled to say that they played BEAUTIFULLY as teams!!

So, what's coming up in the next few weeks?  ROCKS, SOIL, and FOSSILS...opinion writing...reading novels and using text support when showing our comprehension...cursive capital letter review...and LOTS of problem solving in math...

Have a great weekend!!

Happy Spring...FINALLY!!

This is short but sweet...three messages for you...

1.  I post less in the Spring and I'm sorry.  The one thing I can tell you is that I give 100% in the classroom while I'm here...but my home life is crazy during the Spring, so I have MUCH less time at home.  And I can't use time to blog during the day...I must use it to plan and instruct so that I can stay 100% in the classroom.  Sooo...although I don't have time to post, I still have pictures and things to say...and if I have extra time, I PROMISE to blog...but bear with me, please!

3.  And last, make sure your kids are PLAYING OUTSIDE on these beautiful days.  They need the sunshine, the fresh air, and the time for play...it is SO important!!

Thanks for reading!!  Feel free to email me if you need anything!
